Nigeria’s women’s football team, the Super Falcons, secured a 1-0 victory over Costa Rica in their third match at the Revelations Cup in Mexico on Wednesday.

This win marked the team’s first victory since their 1-0 win against Cameroon in the quarter-finals of the 2022 Women’s Cup of Nations held in Morocco.

The only goal of the match was scored by Esther Okoronkwo in the 42nd minute, as she received a pass from the left and curled the ball into the far corner with her left foot.

The Super Falcons had previously lost 1-0 to Mexico in their first game and 1-0 to Colombia in their second game at the Revelations Cup, but the win against Costa Rica secured them third place at the four-nation tournament.

The team is scheduled to participate in another invitational tournament in Turkey in April, in preparation for the upcoming women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

At the World Cup, the Super Falcons have been drawn in a group with Australia, Canada, and debutant team Republic of Ireland.
