Villarreal’s Super Eagles player, Chukwueze, had a remarkable performance in their La Liga game against Getafe, scoring a goal and providing an assist in their 2-1 win at Estadio la Ceramica.
Before the match, Villarreal had gone four games without a win, but Chukwueze’s outstanding display helped end their poor run.
Despite a shaky start that saw Getafe take an early lead, Villarreal rallied, and Chukwueze played a pivotal role in turning the game around.
His intelligent backheel pass set up Capoue for a shot, the shot was parried away by the goalkeeper towards the path of the Nigerian to slot into the net for the equalizer just before halftime, and his brilliant individual skill led to the winning goal in the second half as he drove into the box to square play Luis Morales for a good finish.
This was the first time he had scored and assisted in the same match since 2019 when he did the same against Barcelona.
His man-of-the-match performance helped Villarreal move up to seventh place in the league table, securing an important win despite late pressure from Getafe.
