Manager Graham Potter finally found the winning formula as a determined Chelsea team fought back against Borussia Dortmund to secure a 2-1 aggregate victory.

The German team faced an early setback with Julian Brandt’s hamstring injury after just three minutes, compounded by Karim Adeyemi’s absence.

Chelsea threatened early on with João Félix, Raheem Sterling, and Kai Havertz, with the latter hitting the post. Marco Reus had Dortmund’s best chance with a free-kick that Kepa saved.

Just before half-time, Sterling scored to level the tie. VAR awarded Chelsea a penalty in the second half for a handball by Marius Wolf, but Havertz missed his first attempt, only to have the chance to retake it and score.

Despite Dortmund’s attempts to equalize, they were always a step behind, and Jude Bellingham’s shot curled wide.

The win saw Chelsea score two goals in a game for the first time this year and end Dortmund’s 10-game winning streak in 2023.
