Odion Ighalo, the Super Eagles footballer, maintained his impressive scoring form by scoring two goals in Al Hilal’s 4-0 victory over Al-Taawoun in their Saudi Professional Football League match on Friday.
Ighalo had already scored six goals in his previous seven league games before adding two more in this match.
In the 32nd minute, Ighalo opened the scoring for Al-Hilal with a left-footed volley after a great team move. He then doubled his tally just before half-time, scoring from Andre Carillo’s pass following another excellent team move. Al-Hilal continued their attacking momentum in the second half, with Micheal scoring a brilliant individual goal in the 51st minute. Despite leading by three goals, Al-Hilal continued to search for more, and they got their fourth goal in the ninth minute of added time through a strike from Mohammed Al-Qhatani.
With his two goals in this match, Ighalo now has 12 league goals in 16 games for Al-Hilal this season, and he also has one goal in the King’s Cup. He is currently four goals ahead of Ronaldo in the golden boot race, and he is joint-second in the race, with Talisca leading by one goal. However, Ronaldo’s goal per game ratio is much higher, as he has scored eight goals in seven games, averaging more than one goal per game.
Ighalo’s next match will be on March 14 when Al-Hilal faces Al-Fateh in the King’s Cup.
