Anderlecht midfielder, Ishaq Abdulrazak holds out hope that his side can make it to the next round of the Europa Conference League at the expense of Chukwueze’s Villarreal when they travel to Spain.
Following a 1-1 draw in the first leg at the Lotto Park in Belgium, the Belgian most successful team in Europe feel comfortable as underdogs when crossing swords with Villarreal in Spain.
Anderlecht have shown some good form lately, Losing once in their last six matches in all competitions. They travel to Spain off the back of a 2-0 victory over Cercle Brugge in the Jupiler League fixture last Sunday.
“Hopefully, I think we can get the job done when we visit Villarreal in Spain. We are going to do our best for sure. I trust the team. Villarreal is a big team as well, but we will give it our best.” said Abdulrazak.
Chukwueze’s Villareal will be looking to get the better side of their visitors on Thursday. The forward has scored 10 goals and provided 10 assists in all all competitions this season.
He was instrumental in Villarreal’s draw in Belgium, providing the assist for Manu Trigueros to put the visitors ahead.
“I spoke with Chukwueze before the game. It’s good to see your country man. It’s a good feeling. We joked before the game ; Abdulrazak mentioned.”
The Golden Eaglets of Nigeria player, Abdulrazak joined Anderlecht for a reported fee of 4.5 million Euros from Swedish club, IFK Norrkoping last season.
He scored a second half brace in Anderlecht’s U23 Belgian Challenger Pro League match at home against Lommel SK in February.
Anderlecht had fallen behind in the opening 24 minutes to Alonso Martinez’s brace (16th and 24th min). Abdulrazak stepped up for the hosts and halved the deficit in the 65th minutes and got the equalizer in the stoppage time.
