The head coach of Guinea-Bissau, Baciro Cande, has refused to get carried away with their surprising win over Nigeria in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier held in Abuja.

The coach emphasized the need for his team to quickly move on from the result and focus on the reverse fixture scheduled for Monday.

Despite stunning the continent with their victory over Nigeria, the coach said that they did a thorough analysis of the Super Eagles players and their coach’s tactics, which helped his team stick to their game plan with resilience and determination. The gaffer expressed confidence in his team’s ability to repeat the feat in front of their home fans in the second leg.

“We did a thorough analysis of the Super Eagles players and how the coach usually sets up his team and the boys did the rest by sticking to our game plan with resilience and determination.”

“It paid off with Balde scoring what proved to be the winner, Cande said in his post-match press conference.

“The gaffer said they can repeat the feat in front of their home fans on Monday.

Cande maintained that they still respect Nigeria, and they will go back to the drawing board to plan on how best to approach the game. The coach believes his team can go for another victory in the upcoming match.

“For the second leg, we shall go back to plan how best to play Nigeria. Of course, we will be going for another victory.

“We still respect the Eagles despite our victory in Abuja on Friday.” He concluded.
