Nigeria’s coach, Jose Peseiro, has expressed his dissatisfaction with the pitch in Abuja after the Super Eagles obtained a dramatic turnaround victory over Guinea Bissau.
Peseiro suggested that the team’s poor performance in the first match was due to the bad pitch, but that they were much better in the second match on Monday, which was played on a better pitch.
Despite creating numerous scoring opportunities, the team failed to convert them into goals.
However, Peseiro remains optimistic and is determined to improve the team’s finishing.
“On Friday, our team was much better than Guinea (Bissau). Today, (Monday) we created many scoring opportunities. Today, the pitch is much better than that of Abuja. Our team play offensive game and created many opportunities. We should have beaten them 5-1 in the first match (if the pitch were good) and in the second one, 5-0 or even 6-0. Guinea didn’t create much opportunities,” Peseiro told NFF TV as quoted by SportsVillageSquare.
“Our mistake today (Monday) was finishing.. But that do happen in football. Am happy, not because of the result, but for the model we are are showing everybody… good passes, good ball possession
The coach emphasized that the team’s philosophy is to attack and play beautiful football for their fans.
“We want to be attack oriented and give qualifty football to the fans. The last coach left because he could not do that.
“We want to play beautiful football. We were good in both matches, but not fantastic finishing
“We will improve. We had just five training sessions Our philosophy is to attack and attack.”
