Nigeria’s U-23 Eagles failed to secure a spot at the Football event of the 2024 Olympics in Paris following a 2-0 loss to Guinea in the second leg of their 2023 Africa U23 Cup of Nations qualifier.

Guinea had played out a goalless draw in the first leg, and Nigeria had hoped that playing in Morocco would give them an advantage.

However, the Guineans scored two second-half goals, with Algassime Bah and Alseny Soumah finding the net for the young National Elephants.

Nigeria, winners of the 1996 Olympics football tournament in Atlanta, Georgia, missed the last edition of the tournament in 2020, having won bronze in 2016 in Rio de Janeiro.

The CAF U-23 Africa Cup of Nations will take place in Morocco in June, and the top three ranked countries will represent Africa in Paris 2024.
