Nigerian striker, Odion Ighalo, has maintained his impressive form for Al Hilal with a two-goal haul in their 2-0 triumph over Al Khaleej at the MRSOOL Park. Ighalo, who has been in blistering form since recovering from injury, had previously scored nine goals in his last six matches for Al Hilal, closing in on Talisca and Abderrazak Hamdallah on the Saudi Arabian Professional League goalscorers’ chart.
Playing as a starter, Ighalo opened the scoring after turning his marker and blasting the ball to the roof of the net from a cross by Mohammed Al Burayk. Al Hilal maintained their momentum and earned a penalty just before the break, which Ighalo confidently converted to double their lead.
Despite the visitors’ efforts to stage a comeback, Al Hilal stood their ground and held on to their 2-0 advantage till the final whistle. With his brace, Ighalo has now taken his tally to 14 goals in the league, only one behind Hamdallah, the league’s top scorer.
