Nigerian forward, Victor Boniface displayed why he’s one of the most sought after players in Europe by equalling Marcus Rashford in the UEFA Europa League current top scoring chart.
Royale Union Saint-Gilloise extended their remarkable run in the Europa League with a 1-1 draw against German Bundesliga team Bayer Leverkusen at the BayArena.
The first half ended goalless, but Victor Boniface broke the deadlock in the 51st minute with a superb curling shot that found the bottom corner of the net.
This goal also allowed Boniface to join Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford at the top of the Europa League scoring charts, with six goals in the competition.
However, Union SG’s hopes of securing a win were dashed in the 82nd minute when Florian Wirtz scored for Bayer Leverkusen, leveling the score and denying the Belgian club a victory.
