Head coach Ladan Bosso has invited 39 players to Nigeria’s U20 boys camp as they prepare for the upcoming FIFA U20 World Cup finals in Argentina.
The tournament dates remain unchanged despite the hosting rights being transferred from Indonesia to Argentina by FIFA.
The Flying Eagles, who finished third at the Africa U20 Cup of Nations in Egypt last month, are one of four African teams that will compete in the finals, along with Senegal, The Gambia, and Tunisia.
Eight(8) players who feature at the just concluded U-20 Africa cup of Nations: Augustine Njoku, Abel Ogwuche, Nicholas Jonathan, Ahmed Abdullahi, Emmanuel Uchegbu, Ayuba Abubakar, Saheed Akanbi and Olamilekan Adams were not invited.
All invited players are required to report at Chida Hotel, Abuja on Sunday, 16th April, with training sessions set to commence on Monday. Notably, eight players who participated in the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations were not invited.
The squad includes goalkeepers Nathaniel Nwosu, Chijioke Aniagboso, Saheed Jimoh, and John Otomblon, as well as defenders Augustine Njoku, Ezekiel Bala, Muhammad Abdulsalam, Solomon Agbalaka, Israel Domingo, Benjamin Frederick, Femi Abubakar, Daniel Bameyi, Wisdom Udoh, and Akinwale Akanbi.
Midfielders Caleb Uchedikwu, Ogbelu Onuche, Daniel Daga, Samson Lawal, Bilyaminu Musa, Hitler Eniye, Muhammad Aminu, John Joshua, Musa Usman, and Ibrahim Abdullahi are also part of the squad.
The forward line includes Haliru Sarki, Kehinde Ibrahim, Shettima Abubakar, Jude Sunday, Obiaku Ifesinachi, Abdullahi Usman, Salem Fago, Godwin Ositgbami, Babangida Abubakar, Nurudeen Bala, Olaitan Fabode, Adams Olubi, Adamu Aliyu, Ibrahim Beji, and Ayatollah Usman.
The squad is gearing up for the FIFA U20 World Cup finals with high hopes of representing Nigeria and Africa well on the global stage.
