The Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) Board has expressed its distaste with the recent results of the Super Eagles and the U23 Boys, and has fully endorsed the position of the NFF President that the Federation will never beg any player to wear the nation’s colors.
The Board emphasized that players who lack motivation for any reason to represent Nigeria should be forthright about it at the point of invitation, and any perceived lackadaisical attitude by players wearing Nigeria’s colors at the international level will no longer be treated leniently.
“The Board expressed distaste with recent results of the Super Eagles and the U23 Boys, and fully endorsed the NFF President’s stated position that the Federation will never beg any player to wear the nation’s colours.
In a clear message to players, the Board stated, “whoever is not motivated for one reason or the other to represent Nigeria should always be bold enough to state this at the point of invitation.” This underscores the Board’s commitment to fostering a culture of dedication and passion among players who have the privilege of representing the national team.
“Any perceived lackadaisical attitude by any player wearing Nigeria’s colours at international level will no longer be treated with kid gloves.”
Furthermore, the NFF Board assured Nigerians at home and in the Diaspora that it remains focused and is diligently working towards proactively and vigorously developing football in Nigeria from the grassroots.
