Nigeria’s Rivers United football team, the current champions, experienced a traumatic incident when their team bus was attacked and vandalized with poisonous chemicals while in training in Tanzania.
Along with the damage, an amount of over N3.8 million was also stolen. This comes ahead of their important CAFCC quarterfinal second leg match against Young Africans.
Having already lost the first leg at home 2-0, the Rivers United team faces an uphill battle to progress to the next stage of the competition. However, the attack on their team bus has made things even more challenging for the Nigerian champions.
Rivers United has reported the incident to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and is awaiting further action. Despite the setback, the team remains determined to go all the way to the final of the competition.
