Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets Head Coach, Nduka Ugbade, believes that the upcoming quarter-final game between Nigeria and Burkina Faso at the Africa U17 Cup of Nations in Algeria is going to be an interesting and significant one.

Ugbade made this statement during the pre-match press conference at the Nelson Mandela Stadium on Wednesday, where he also noted that both teams have met before.

“The game is going to be very interesting. At the WAFU B tournament, we had Togo, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Niger and Burkina Faso. We did well to beat Burkina Faso 2-1 in the final,” said Ugbade.

Ugbade acknowledged that while the AFCON is different from the WAFU B tournament, he still expects the game to be intriguing and important. A victory for either team will secure qualification for the FIFA World Cup.

“The only difference is that, this is AFCON, but surely is going to be an interesting game and very important game because victory will guarantee qualification for the FIFA World Cup,” he added.

The Golden Eaglets will face Burkina Faso at the Nelson Mandela Stadium in Tangier on Thursday night, hoping to secure a spot at the world cup, which they have won five times before.
