Taiwo Awoniyi and Raheem Sterling both scored braces as Chelsea and Nottingham Forest shared the points in a frantic 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge.
Steve Cooper’s side took the early lead when Nigerian forward, Taiwo Awoniyi headed in a cross from Renan Lodi to give the visitors the lead in the 13th minutes.
Two quick goals from Raheem Sterling in the 51st and 58th minutes gave Chelsea the equaliser and the lead after the break.
Five minutes later, Awoniyi flicked home Orel Mangala’s delicate lob into the six-yard box to secure an impressive draw for the Forest. Ending Nottingham’s seven winless Premier League game on the road.
Reacting after the game, Awoniyi who’s now scored four goals in his last two games said ; “”It was a good game,” he told the Premier League, per the BBC.
“Obviously, we know how good they are as a team, and we came here with the spirit and togetherness and we had a plan and it worked. Unfortunately, we didn’t get the three points.
“The most important thing was to get the goals and that brought us into the game. Many times we sat off but that’s the game plan and that’s what we did. It helped us as a team and individually to earn the draw today.”
With the result, Nottingham Forest are three points clear of the bottom three as the Blues stumbled to a result that further emphasises their desperation for the season to finish.
