Scottish club Rangers are reportedly interested in signing Nigerian forward Josh Maja to bolster their attacking lineup for the upcoming season.

Maja, who currently plays for Bordeaux, has been a key contributor with 16 goals and 6 assists as his team vies for promotion in Ligue 2. Bordeaux currently sits second on the league table, with a slim one-point margin separating them from third-placed Metz.

Maja’s contract situation remains uncertain. If Bordeaux secures promotion back to Ligue 1, the 24-year-old’s contract will be automatically extended. However, if promotion eludes them, Maja will be free to leave the club as his contract expires this summer.

Rangers are eyeing Maja as a potential replacement for Alfredo Morelos, who is set to depart the club on a free transfer in the summer.

When asked about the interest from Rangers and the possibility of leaving Bordeaux, Maja refrained from commenting, emphasizing the importance of focusing on the remaining crucial games of the season. He stated that he will await the club management’s decision on his future and whether they intend to retain him.

“I can’t think about that at the moment. We have so many important games before the end of the season and I have to concentrate on that only. We’ll see what happens at the end of the season. I have to wait to hear what the management of this club says and whether they want to keep me.”
