The Basketball Africa League is set to host the 2023 edition of the Innovation Summit alongside the Playoffs and Finals from 20th-27th May in Kigali, Rwanda.

As part of activities lined up for the one-week tournament, the summit will hold on May 25 at the Kigali Marriott hoteI.

The summit which enters its second edition is streamlined to focus on Tech, Business, Sports and Entertainment.

Africa’s biggest club competition, the BAL, will be the platform to convene thought leaders from these interconnected industries.

Conversations will be centered around trends and dynamics, the role technology plays in the continued development of global basketball fandom.

This year’s summit will also explore the opportunities and potential of the creative and tech sectors across the African continent.

BAL President Amadou Gallo Fall believes the summit will help unlock opportunities in the sports business industry.

“This summit will help understand the dynamics, map market trends, and unlock opportunities in the sports business industry.”

Fall added: “The overarching goal of our league is to build a robust sports business industry and an economic growth engine around basketball.”

Fall also said that the summit will provide a platform for African leaders to inspire the youth.

“The confluence of sport, tech and entertainment will provide a platform for the continent’s leaders to inspire our African youth.”

Through the summit, it is expected that attendees will learn how to build a strong talent pipeline and its strategies for recruiting and developing young athletes.
