The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially announced that the draw for the group stages of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast will take place on October 12.
This decision was made by the CAF Executive Committee during its Congress in Algiers, Algeria, and was disclosed on Friday.
According to CAF’s statement, “The EXCO announced that the Official draw of the Africa Cup of Nations Ivory Coast 2023 will be conducted on Thursday, 12 October 2023.”
Among the teams that have already qualified for the tournament are the defending champions, Senegal, as well as Algeria, Tunisia, South Africa, Morocco, and Burkina Faso. The host nation, Ivory Coast, will also be part of the tournament, which has now been confirmed to commence in January 2024.
In Group A, Nigeria currently holds the top position with nine points from four matches. They are set to face Sierra Leone and Sao Tome and Principe in their remaining two group fixtures next month, which will determine their qualification for the tournament.
