Nigeria’s Chidera Ejuke will be leaving Hertha Berlin and returning to his parent club, CSKA Moscow, according to Benjamin Weber, the sports director of Hertha Berlin.

This news comes as a result of Hertha Berlin’s relegation to the second tier and Ejuke’s limited playing time due to an injury he sustained, which kept him sidelined for three months.

Ejuke, who joined Hertha Berlin on a season-long loan in July 2022, had his chances of securing a permanent deal significantly reduced by the club’s relegation and his time on the sidelines. Throughout his stint at Hertha Berlin, the Super Eagles star made appearances in twenty-one competitive matches, starting in nine of them.

Unfortunately, Ejuke failed to meet expectations during his time with Hertha Berlin, registering zero goals and three assists in 932 minutes of gameplay. The 25-year-old forward has been associated with CSKA Moscow since the summer of 2020, where he has recorded impressive numbers, scoring 10 goals and providing eight assists in 65 appearances across all competitions.

Prior to his time in Russia, Ejuke played for SC Heerenveen in the Netherlands and Välerenga Fotball in Norway. Additionally, he represented Supreme Court FC and Gombe United in his home country.

In summary, Chidera Ejuke will be bidding farewell to Hertha Berlin and making a return to CSKA Moscow after an underwhelming loan spell in Germany.
